Our first collaboration is an exploration of light and the moods it enhances. We believe it is one of the most essential elements in a room and we have encapsulated this into a handcrafted collection of Terrazzo wall lights defined with hand blown opal glass. Terrazzo, eco friendly and durable, gives us a unique rawness and irregularity in a pure form. A composite material, the selected aggregates are sourced from recycled materials. Marble, granite and quartz fragments are then set into cement or resin with each slab revealing its true character. We found inspiration from its traditional use in Italian architecture, to create a collection of sculptural wall lighting suitable for all types of application; including bathrooms, hospitality, work places and residential.
We are FABR, an interdisciplinary design collective composed of three experienced designers – Ana Foster-Adams, Esther Booth and Mario Restrepo. With a shared passion for lighting, objects and original interiors; we love exploring and experimenting with distinctive materials and finding artisans who appreciate our sentiments. Our aim is to create timeless designs of beauty and purpose.
ABOUT OUR CO-FOUNDERS
Ana’s passion for interiors can be traced back to when she was 12 years old and would spend her pocket money on interiors magazines from Europe. Originally from New Zealand, Ana has worked in London where she spent significant time working in residential and commercial interior design and where she set up her first design studio. Lighting and objects became an obsession during this time and is how the idea for FABR came along with Esther & Mario. Ana is now living in Hong Kong where she runs her second interiors studio.
Esther was born in the UK, but with a European background and outlook, she draws on inspiration from many different life journeys. A 1st class degree in interior design and work on high-end interiors cemented a love for sourcing original design and creating bespoke products. A shift of focus then led to experience on the commercial side of design, working as both brand and sales manager for some well-known design companies. This, combined with a continued fascination with materials and a commitment to quality handmade products was the driving force for her to launch FABR with her co-founders.
Mario is an industrial designer who has specialised in all forms of lighting design for over 12 years. Born in the UK of Colombian heritage, his childhood was spent travelling between these two vastly different and vibrant cultures. It was these experiences that first sparked his interest in design. Growing up in Shoreditch, which at the time was becoming London’s creative hub, his love for design flourished. Mario draws from his creative and engineering backgrounds to create exceptional products and his work has won multiple prestigious design awards.
